Most likely it is the fuse that regulates the heating element on your press that has burned out. All you have to do is open the top, remove the heating plate. The fuse will be on the left, button shaped. Replace the fuse and put everything back together and the unit should work. You can buy a fuse from the company you bought your press at or contact the manufacturer.
I have the same problem but I still continue to use the steam press. You need to hit the front panel pretty hard and then listen closely. if you hear the humming then its working
