Myh dryer is taking forever to dry clothes. So today I opened it and push the button and watched it. I noticed that the heating elelment came on for a few seconds then went off. What's wrong? I called an appliance repair shop he says it sounds like it's short cycling
You need two things to dry clothes, Heat and airflow. Check your exhaust for good strong airflow. If that is ok then the thermostats may be as the tech said short cycling. It will require a test meter and some experience to determine which(Hi-Limit or Operating) is causing the problem. You will also be working around 240 volts and that is dangerous for the untrained.
