It is troubling to me how many people on here (all of the answers I've read so far, actually) are just guessing at the answer to this. Getting the mixture right is important for the machine to run properly. Also, mixing too lean a mixture (too little oil to gas) would ruin the engine, possible in just one use. Using too heavy a mix (like the 40:1 or, unbelievably, the 32:1 I saw one person recommend) would likely only foul the spark plug. Still, It's aggrevation you just don't need. The manual probably says 40:1 (3.2oz.oil to 1 gal gas) but if you use a good modern 2 cycle oil,50:1(2.6oz .oil to 1 gal gas) will suffice.
