Need to over-ride built-in speakers so desktop speakers work. Ever since I hooked up my Compac W17q monitor, the built-in speakers have taken over, but I want my desktop speakers for sound instead. How can I achieve this? Thank you for your ideas and assistance. My email address is [email protected] Thanks again, Lynn
Not sure if you ever found an answer but I had the same problem and believe I just figured it out;. My HP monitor has a plug/input for headphones. I just plugged my desktop speakers into the headphone slot.
Assuming your using a Windows operating system, you need to got to the sound settings and set your computers soundcard as the preferred output device. (Its under Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices in XP)
