ok ... taking the large battery out will not clear the bios password. there is an internal battery for the cmos (bios) that needs to be removed plus the main battery ... including all power to the laptop. when you have removed all power for about 10 minutes .... put it all back together. it should boot without a password.
If you cannot access the battery. not always accessable... you will need to go ahead with downloading the driver from western digital and installing it from the floppy disk during installation of your operating system.
