Need to set the head gap on a Genicom 3870. Lost my manual
OK, its realy a 3870 but this site doesnt belive thatr there is such a printer.
Got smeared print, good new head installed, with 3 part paper. Green bar is good. I need to set the head gap.

If it has a manual adjust, open the top cover and on the right side will be a slide for different head adjustments, it wll be numbered 1-6, 6 being right against the paper which causes smears. Move to around 3. If it has auto adjust (you can tell this when you power up the display will show "adjusting gap" then press off line, the press program, move to head adjust, press enter, press enter again then use the arrows up and down to move to your type of printing, 2part, 3 part ect.
