NetGear WGR614 v6 Wireless router won't access
My router was working fine until yesterday, as the
broadband connection deteriorated.
Service people from the ISP provider installed a new
modem (I was told that although I had a brand new model
installed a couple of months ago, they found out that
it was rebooting frequently). In addition, a filter
on the phone line was added, bringing back the signal to
a 24 decibels (sic) constant value (upgrading to
acceptable standard the 15 db non constant signal
measured earlier).
So the Direct Cable connection (modem to notebook) was
tested and the Internet access works fine.

Then I reintroduced my Netgear router into the circuit,
all connections and cable in the right places, however
without success. The lights are on as usual, the wireless
blinks OK, but signal transmission , in the same room and
around, does not occur or is not picked up , even by
the other Mac notebook in my home network.

Conventional solution of unplugging/plugging of both
modem and router did not work.

As my notebook run a Windows Vista home premium, I tried
some fixing available in the network and connections help
& support . In older days (april 2006) of the first
installation of the router, it was helpful in stabilizing
a permanent connection (resets network adapter for the
wireless connection ), but I get a message telling me
that I may have a problem with my a DNS configuration.

any clue?
thanks in advance
