New 24 hp B&S engine running out of fuel
Replaced 21 hp with completely new 24 hp on Husqvarna riding mower, ran good for 5 hrs. Now after about 45min of running it starts surging and goes dead. The fuel filter is empty, but slowly fills back up if it sits for a while. Fuel tank is full.

There is a restriction somwhere before the fuel filter, this is assuming gravity feed and there is no fuel pump for the engine.
Ok, disconnect the fuel pump from the engine and rig it to catch gas, turn the key on and see if it pumps gas into the catch container.
