New Fuel Pump and Filter, Leaks and Still Stalls
In short, loved this car for five years. But after moving half way across Country 2 weeks ago ...everything has gone wrong, she even has a new tranny. After the transmission (and other repairs) I lose fuel pressure and realize it is now a pump I need. She took virtually every ounce of money saved for this move, so I HAD to get away cheap on labor. "Mobile mechanic felt bad" (yea right) and did the pump for 100 bucks. It was hard to prime...I mean I am a chick and I knew it was REALLY hard to turn over after repair. He leaves, I drive and the smell of fuel is pungent. Not the smell from a spill, I KNEW she was leaking right then...my heart sank. She still sputters on the hills, and stalls from low pressure. (sigh) This was 4 days ago! What I know is she is leaking fuel and it must be burning off the tank cause it's not visible, but it is leaking! Pump kicks on and it runs "better" with new pump, but losing just enough pressure to keep me crazy. Of course "mechanic" ain't answering now...over 2000 is gone since arriving, and I have no job yet cause my car won't stop! (pardon the pun) God bless I will get in and get dirty, I just need to be pointed in the right direction of what this ***** could have either damaged OR just not sealed correctly. The leaves have definitely fallen off the money tree and my car is so close to being my baby again. (and possibly my new home, Lol) Can anyone just tell me where to look??? A general direction and/or name I can Google. I am not an idiot I promise, my back was just up against the wall when the pump went out immediately after the tranny. (literally stalled on the way home from shop!) :( Thanks....Pam
