New HP laptop will not connect to wireless secure network
We have had the di-524 working for a couple of years. 2 desktops using 2 different wireless cards care onnecting fine. We purchased a new HP laptop for my daughter, running VISTA (other systems are running XP). We can see our SSID just fine and the signal is very strong. I am not using MAC or IP address screening. In fact, my other daughter recently got an i-touch and was able to connect out of the box, using our 128bit key. We are using WEP. The new laptop can connect fine to other networks (cafe's, stores, schools). The laptop also connected fine to another secure network at her friends house. Details in event log just say that it failed to connect for an unknown reason

Problem solved. I disabled the security on my network. I connected the new laptop to the unsecure network. I saved the settings on the laptop for the unsecure network. I rebooted the laptop. I re-enabled security on the router. I tried to connect to the network. I got an error on the laptop saying the network saved settings did not match. I modified the settings to a secure network on the laptop and saved the 128 bit key. Rebooted everything. All works fine now.
