New Rainbow purchased 3 weeks ago. Went to a friends home which purchased one also and her's is very quite. Mine on Low setting to use as air clearner you can hear it in the next two rooms. Her's you had to atleast be in the same room and still can talk. I believe I have a bad machine

Your new rainbow is still under warranty I believe so explain it to the company and ask for another. I too had a rainbow however I am like your friend in which mine worked very well. The noise is coming from the motor housing or the motor itself. Good Luck
