All you have to do is lay your camera with the LCD side down, make sure its on a soft surface like a carpet or a pillow. Once you have it laying down, put a peice or two of newspaper, or any paper, on top of the camera. and then hit it a few times with something. like a brush or anything hard like that. it worked for me. :) good luck.
I hit the camera with my hand about 10 times, the screen came back. When you hit the camera, be careful do not hit LCD or any fragile part, just hit main body. It does hurt your hand though. Wired camera, I would not buy any nikon from now on. Rubbish!

I fixed mine with a couple of heavy !thumps! Try not to use something hard like a table tennis bat like I did in the beginning of my "fixing" process. Your hand is the best object to hid it with, but not slapping it with your fingers, rather with the base part of your hand like when you would hid a nail into a piece of wood.
OMG!!!! I was panicking the night before I was due to leave for 6 month travelling and my camera s6 completely gave up on me - BLACK SCREEN CURSE!!! I followed the somewhat mental advice on here to give it a few whacks AND IT WORKED!!! So happy. I laid it on a cushion and smacked it with firstly, the palm of my hand, and then the tv remote. GUARANTEED RESULT!
