I was just having the same problem and looking for a solution...then I found it myself by accident. By pulling up on the cup and then trying to turn it came off pretty easily. I was trying to push down, which seemed to make it tighter.

IF YOU ARE ALREADY STUCK: Find the tiny detention/release "button" in the grove at the back near the top of the base unit. Use a butter knife or the back of a sharp one to slide the button DOWN toward the counter (not in toward the blender blades).
TO PREVENT THE PROBLEM: Look at the 4 locking tabs on the single serve cup. They are rectangular with the lower right corner HEAVILY beveled (when viewed broadside). The solution to the problem is to LIGHTLY bevel the upper left corner too. I used a pocket knife to shave just a little bit off at 45 degrees. Proceed carefully one tab at a time testing it in the rear slot. Shave just enough to get an easy release. Shave all 4 tabs on the cup so it doesn't matter which one is inserted in the rear groove.
FIXED: STUCK single serve - If the single server is getting stuck, you need to press the little button on the horizontal slot on the outside of blender where the four tab are on the single serve. (You'll see four horizontal 'grooves', one of which has a little button to depress the lock). Use a butter knife to press the button down as you turn the single server counter-clockwise to remove, and it will easily come off. The single server does not have a release mechanism that depresses the lock from the outside, as do the other attachments. Poor design on the single serve.
