No files in drive but disk half full
I have a LaCie External USB 2.0 500GB 7200 RPM 500 GB Hard Drive, and used it for about 2 years as an archive, mainly photos. Suddenly Finder or XP can open the drive, but the drive appears to contain no folders or files. Both, Windows XP on my PC and Finder on my Mac recognize the drive and describe the drive properties as more then half full, however no folders or files are visible. I am looking at recovery solutions, as the files are important to me. Can you recommend a particular software to reliably recover my files and folders? The drive was plugged into the Mac when the problem occurred. I am looking forward to your kind reply. Paul

I hope u already tried unhiding the files and then then checked??as it xp a microsoft product which is know for bugs
it might have various reasons..
might be the drive is corrupted ..and the mc system is showing the drive files or temp files which are accumulated over the period of time !!!! if u think tht there are pics in it which are not showing up in xp try to run back up of tht drive on cd and then check if there are pics in it u can recover it but using the windows back up.... i hope it is computer doesnt freez wh u conect to drive threr is one one more way a soft ware from hp named data suit available on there website
which can recover data from a crashed drives also so u can try tht also and then format ur drive if there are bad sector format will fix it
