No image Just got this monitor from my sister. Plugged it into my computer VGA with not a flicker! Is there some type of "bench test" I can do to see if the thing really works
Computers & Internet - NEC - LCD4000 (Black) 40" LCD Monitor
Assuming it worked before your sister gave it to you then most likly all you need to do is change the input selection.
This is a button in the middle of the remote sort of towards the top. If thats confusing (was to me ;-]) just look for one marked INPUT. Plug it in and on, have your computer on so you know it is generating images and then press the imput button to cycle through the inputs. It will act like its changing channels so on one of the inputs you should see your computer desktop. To watch tv again you will have to cycle through till you get your channels back.
If it wasn't working then it may be a backlight problem which is repairable.
Remove the VGA with it plugged in SEE if it shows color diplay it shoukd go thru a display of several colors onn screen when not pluuged into a VGA connection
Try after plg into VGA hit F 4 key Function FN and F 4 key
that sends the signal to the external monitor to come on
