I would double check your wiring, Make sure all wiring is tight. No cracks, no pinched wires. If needed, bypass the switch and see if it will stay running. If so, switch would be bad. If it's the same, then you have a wiring problem or a worn motor at the worst.

replaced the brushes- now works a treat
