No Red in Picture through Component Cables
I purchased a Loewe Aconda 38'' ACO 9383 four years ago. After a couple of years, the picture suddenly didn't have any red in it through the component cables. It still had red in it if you hooked it up through Svideo. Unfortunately, that is not an HD picture. My set has been in a repair shop for the past two years!! The local repair shop has sent the chasis to the Loewe support (Loewe is no longer selling sets in the U.S.) service of Panurgy in NJ on several occasions. Panurgy says there is nothing wrong with the chasis and that they get a full hd picture when they hook it up in their shop. But, when the local repair shop hooks my tv up it has the same problem. Panurgy now says they will not invest anymore time to fixing my set because they can't find any problem with it. I am beyond frustrated! Does anyone know what the problem might be that this local repair shop might be overlooking. I can't say I have a lot of trust in their competency. Also, is there away to go around the issues with the component cables and use a hybrid VGA/HDMI cable to get an HD picture through the cable box? I have seen on-line a company called HD Fury that offers different types of connections. I'm not sure if the VGA connection is only meant for connecting to a computer monitor. Any help on this frustrating situation would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Initially, have you tried using another cable box or another component video source in case it is the cable box/source that is the problem?
Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.
Hi again,
Any updates or developments so far?
Hello dlockett22,
The VGA cable is only meat for hookIng up a PC or laptop to your tv and will NOT give you HD. However, if you have a HDMI connector on your TV this should give you the red you are missing. HDMI will allow the audio and video to transfer in one cbale as apposed to the componet cables with 1 yello for video and a red and whit one for audio. The SVideo cable will give you pretty decent video, can you see a huge difference in viewing quality when you use the SVideo as opposed to the HD? Also, if you ae using the componet cbales that are red white and yellow to connect your cable box you are not really getting HD video. The svideo cable will give a higher quality picture more so than the componet cables.
Hope this helps.
Your problem is cable related and I will tell you why I think this. As long as the remote repair shop is being honest they are not experiencing any problems and are getting HD signal at their shop. When you get it back it is doing it at home and at the repair shop. Invest in a set of high quality cables and have the signal strength of you cable input checked at home. I also had a problem with an older TV that was similiar to yours and when I routed it through an RF conveter it solved the issue. I suspect that the common denominator is connectivity with this set. VGA connections are usually for products like Netflix etc. but it is an HD connection nevertheless. You may want to see if your cable company will check signal strength and then get the cables. This should help.
