The dvd plays but there is no sound and it isnt set on mute either. checked the input and output cables and they are colo-coded so they are connnected the right way.

If this is correctly connected then check in your DVD player menu for sound output, some DVD players wont auto-detect what type of sound cable you are using and you may have to set it to the type of output you are using.

Actually, this is caused by Cinavia Message Code 3.

What are you connecting the sound to the tv with?
Be aware that a component cable only carries video
