No sound upon installing E-MU 0404 pci card and driver
E-MU 0404 is a few years old and was working fine in another system, but was replaced in that system by a newer USB audio interface. Upon installation of EMU/driver in a different computer (Dell Dimension --XP, not Vista) everything looks good -- it's recognized by computer, etc. Yet, I get NO sound.
It won't play system sounds, wav files or cd and I get no sound from any of these sources on either headphones or monitor speakers -- both headphones and monitor speakers work fine in all other situations.
Everything still works with old (factory) soundcard.
The normal Windows troubleshooting yielded no results. If anyone has any insights, I sure would appreciate it.

Hey ya'll.
I had the same problem with everything installed,icons on the screen etc...I took my stuff to my computer wizard and he came with the following solution which is:
Make sure that you have a Windows XP "SP2 or GREATER" this is the kicker.Go to the requirements sheet if you need more info.
Anyway I did that upgrade from SP1 to SP2 and it works like a charm with pristine sound.
