No sound when playing a tape on Teac A103. Everything is hooked up to the receiver correctly
I have been trying to get my dad's Teac 103 cassette deck working. The tape didn't turn and I successfully changed belt so now the tape moves like it's supposed to. Unfortunately, there's no sound. Any ideas what may be wrong? There are no obvious wires disconnected.

Hi Carol, from what you said, you could make the tape move
On the front of your Teac A103, there are two Instruments, called VUmeters, ask, when you play the tape, do the needles of these vumeters move indicating the presence of sound?
If they move, it would indicate that the tape is being read
If they do not, it may be that you are playing a tape without recording or that the reading head is dirty, with accumulation of debris from the cassette tapes
To clean them, you should use a thin cotton cloth, wet with a little alcohol, open the cassette door and pass it through the upper end of the heads, until they are clean, the head, which reproduces and records the cassettes is the that is in the middle
If all this is done, you get the vumeters to move and nothing comes out, you can try a pair of headphones and connect them to the output on the right
if you hear sounds, check the RCA cables for interconnection with the amplifier
Do the tests I suggest and comment
Indicate to which device you are connecting the cassette output to play
I await your comment

Espero tu comentario
