Noisy drum on even moving by hand
It's making a very loud rumbling sound especially when spinning could it be the bearings and is it worth fixing?

It is definately the main drum bearings that have failed
To be honest with you , if the washer is more than 4 or 5 years old, you would be wise to call it a day, and purchase a new one, as it is an expensive job to put right..Sorry to bring you doom and gloom.

Re your washer, if it is under 5 years old and depending upon where you purchased it, you should be covered by Hotpoint's 5 year part guarantee.
It is certtainly worth a phone call, and it could save you having to buy a new one.
