This is a common problem. It is a bit time consuming to repair though so be patient. There is a part called a thermocouple that has to make contact with the pilot flame. It is a slim tubular piece that is in the same bracket with the pilot. If the flame is blue and about an inch and a half long then it is burning correctly and the thermocouple will need to be replaced. If the flame is orange then the pilot tube may be dirty. Use a can of compressed air that is used for electronics to blow the pilot tube and burner clean. Then try relighting. You can also lightly sand the thermocouple. If none of this works then replace the master valve and it will work again. Hope this helps. Good luck.
