Odometer is not working
I bought a 93 toyota camry with 75k for milage.....The car was bought at auction as is by a local dealer. It was shipped up from VA so no milage put on the car. It was taken for a local test drive and no one noticed the odometer was not changing. After 3 days of ownership my daughter noticed the milage has not changed on the car. We bought the car because the milage was so low. Is there any way to tell the true milage of the car without the odometer working?

Check with 'carfax,' for a fee you can get a look at the car's history. I have used this service when buying, or considering buying cars, and have found that I am looking at a car that has had the mileage rolled back, has been totaled and patched back together, has been a fleet rental, etc. A truck I purchased last year even had listings of when the dealer serviced it. and what was serviced. Registration dates, emissions checks, accidents, etc are usually listed, and most have the mileage at that time. Not all info is available, but usually enough to get an idea if the car should be avoided or not. Did the dealer sell the car to you 'as is?' He should at least fix the odometer, whether it was sold as is or not. He should have known the mileage was too good to be true, and a reputable dealer would have most likely run a check on the car, or avoided it due to it's age. Let me know what the history is, I would love to know! Hopefully the car runs well, doesn't leak fluids, body is decent, and you didn't pay a lot for it, so good luck and let me know if you check the history of it at carfax.
No there is not, the newer cars do store it into memory, and can be found in the computer memory.im suprised theres no check engine light, oh its a 1993. no way. sounds like you need a mew cluster but check the cable, a good way to get a close mileage is a car fax, it will list mileage of all emmsion testsand date and also everytime it was registered, and transfered ownership,
In latin "caveat emptor" or let the buyer beware.there is no way of knowing what the mileage is but if its not burning oil/runs sweet, no problem.does your auction room have a get out clause re are goods as seen or what???(if sold "as is" with no warranty then you are stuck if its duff) sorry but in the uk, we have laws to protect us ,
