Oe MESSAGE I had an OE message and twice drained the drain plug and cleaned the filter. There was a little lint but nothing clogging it. What else can I try before calling for repair?
UNPLUG THE WASHER FIRST. Drain all of the water with the drain hose. Lay the washer on it's back (put something behind it so that it is not resting on the hose connections etc) it won't lay flat but that's okay. DO NOT TRY TO GET AWAY WITH BALANCING IT AGAINST THE WALL WHILE WORKING ON IT. THESE WASHERS ARE HEAVY AND YOU DON'T WANT TO DIE TRYING TO SAVE A FEW BUCKS! You do not need to take of the white plastic grid on the bottom you can reach everything through the hole in the middle. Right behind the black drain hose/filter is the pump. Disconnect the hoses and check each one for a clog. Disconnect wires (note the location of each wire) there are only a few. The pump is held in place with a little piece of plastic at the bottom and a couple screws where the filter is on the front. There are two pumps that can be removed easily with three screws each. Take one off and check that the fan is okay and nothing is jammed in it. Do the same with the other. If there is nothing visibly wrong then it may need a new pump. As with any self repair, if you are not confident with mechanical items do not attempt to do it yourself. When tilting the washer always have someone there to help.
With an error code the only way to find and to repair this is,
First unplug the washer and wait a few minutes then restart it like rebooting your computer when its acting strange! If it corrects the problem GREAT!!! WE WIN!
If not only a trained laundry tech can make the electronic diagnoses. Like we used to be able to fix my own cars, but not today they need diagnostic equipment!
How old is the washer?
If the appliance is 10 years old or more you it may not be advisable to put good money into bad! New appliances are so much more efficient today that they can save you a lot of money in energy!!!! Water,Electric and detergent! And put money back in your pocket! The new appliance will pay for itself in only a few years!
