off button as the cause since sometimes the display doesn't come back after the monitor goes in to power saving mode. The problem occurs on both the RGB and DVD ports. I opened up the monitor and don't see any obvious problems, but I'm not a tech and probably wouldn't recognize anything more than a loose wire, etc. Please advise

Or www.digikey.com just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current, long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series. Please leave rating if it helps.
It worked!! Ok - everyone was right - it was the capacitors. After reading and watching about a dozen soldering tutorials, I unsoldered the 6 slightly bulging caps and soldered in the 6 new ones. The monitor is now working like new! Obviously only time will tell how long they'll last this time, but right now I'm one happy camper! Thank you again budmrtn!It worked!!
