off button. The screen otherwise works fine but is becoming unusable while displaying this pop-up. It displays as: 1)a Klaxon symbol with a red line through it, the word Mute, a symbol for a battery and the digits 99, 2)a Klaxon symbol, the word Volume, a symbol for a battery and the digits 99. It previously appeared (the same but with the digits 100) about six months ago but disappeared after a power cut which resulted in my screen showing a random mix of colours for a few seconds before returning to normal. It will not screen capture but I do have a photograph of the infuriating item. Any advice is gratefully appreciated
I would really like to have a look at the photograph to provide you the solution accordingly.
From what i understand this problem does not seem be a problem as a result of corrupt drivers or missing drivers required for the video processor to run efficiently.
The description that you gave about the error message makes it clear that it's a monitor's hard ware fault , instead of a fault with your video graphics card / GPU (Graphics processor unit).
A good idea would be to connect this LCD to a different device , probably your friend's or neighbor's CPU , so that you can be clear as to where the fault lies.
If you connect this LCD to your friend's CPU and it does not display that error or pop up , then it means that it's the problem with your video drivers or graphic card.
If the error still persists then it means that it's a hard ware error in the monitor , in such case you would require to either get the monitor repaired if it's under warranty or guarantee (replacement), via an authorized service center.
If it's not under warranty/guarantee , then you can either repair it via a third party service center , which is not that reliable as compared to authorised service center.
Or you can just get a new monitor if the repair work costs you so much that you would prefer having a new one as the rate or such LCD monitors keep on lowering since they are launched.
Let me know in case you have any queries , It would be my pleasure to help you.
Hope this helps ..:) , Your feed back would be appreciated.
Then the LCD requires proper servicing and it should work properly , make sure to just get it serviced via a service center and don't tell them to replace any parts without your permission , many times the repair center executives know the problem but won't tell you on your face , but would tell you that they would try to find out the solution and then call you back for the required charges.
I would suggest that you just go and get it serviced and the reason for your servicing the LCD should be the problem that you have , make them realize that it's only because of what you think the problem exist otherwise they could try to fool you and charge you heavily.

I would have felt comfortable advising you about cleaning the circuits by opening up the LCD as it's not under warranty anymore , but as I figured that you are not that expert in doing this work , this could lead to permanent damage to your LCD.
So instead of suggesting something that would cause more harm probably , I would suggest you to take precautions while solving the problem , as there have been many cases where problems have been answered properly but the questioner did exactly that about which he was warned just because of his less experience.
In your case the LCD repair would either cost very less or would cost more such that you would prefer to get a new one with guarantee or replacement or warranty , the only thing that you need to do is to find the correct repairer who would just do what 's required and not fool you and charge you much money.

Hi view of the problems you are presented, there are several possibilities related to the problem. 1> lcd monitor problems 2> display card problem 3> the motherboard problem 4> operating system and virus activity to identify the actual problem, you need to do troubleshooting. 1> do troubleshooting on your LCD monitor lcd monitor with a 100% working. - LCD monitors are installed on your computer and see the results. (if it is still the same, this means that the problem is coming from your computer) 2> do a test using the display card is 100% working and installed on your computer and see the results and if the problems is still same, you have to do tests on your operating system and need to provide the tools to do the installation of the operating system, if possible, provide 100% working hard disk to reinstall your operating system to prevent the existing data disturbed. do install the operating system and see if the problem remains the same decision, if still same, this means most likely your problem is the motherboard.
