My vizio hdtv is connect to my pc via a dvi to hdmi cable. I have an ATI HD3650 video card with DVI output.
With everything on and working properly, if I turn off the tv and then back on, the display says 'retreiving data' then 'no signal'. The only way to get the display back up is to restart the computer or put in sleep mode and back to startup.
My earlier visio GV42L did not have this problem. Its only with the newer one that now does some sort of signal scan before connecting.
Even if i switch hdmi inputs back and forth or change from tv back to hdmi it still says no signal.

Could be a sensitivity problem, have you tried to switch tv modes back and forth, sometimes if you do that it will save you from restarting the computer. I had a tv about 10 years ago that had a sensitivity issue, went to see about fixing it, unfortunately, the tv brand was no longer in the country and user service parts were not available.
