Olevia 232-S13 on Time Warner cable. While watching there appears a black box insert of about 50% of the screen, and it displays random code. Only way I can make it go away is to turn off then on. Any idea? Thanks dave
It's the closed caption box - apparently it's triggered by something in the signal. Disable it, either simply with the button on the remote or from the menu. If it doesn't gets disabled with user commands then the defect is in the processor of the tv, it has started to react randomly. The tv will have to be professionally tested.
The button on the remote only closes it for that particular channel, for all the others it remains active. You need to go in the menu to disable it permanently. But if the button on the remote doesn't closes it and you can't raise the menu then something is wrong with the control processor of the tv. But this is easy to check: remove the connections from the cable box (if you have one) or the cable directly and try this way - if you can't close it then you will know for sure that the tv is defective. The button on the remote only closes it for that particular channel, for all the others it remains active.
