My name is ArmyMason, Sounds like you aer having an issue with your On Board NIC. Let me ask you have you checked the BIOS to see if its enabled? If it is I would have to say you have a bad NIC and should consider going to the local Computer store and purchase a new NIC, they are cheap and can even be found at WalMart. This could have been a result from a electrical storm and could have caused damage to the NIC. Either way the cheapest solution is to buy a new NIC.

you must have the incorrect driver installed, could you send me the brand and model of your computer.
also look into msinfo32 and provide me with the device PNP ID
start -> run -> typein: msinfo32 -> open components -> open Problem devices.
Send me the details, device name, pnp id and error if there is one.
