The flashing is the service code telling you (or the repair tech) what is wrong with the TV. How many times it flashes let's the service tech know where to find the problem with the TV. My guess is the power supply is probably bad, but it could be anything. You need to count the number of times it flashes and then search for the service codes for the unit. Good luck!
The reason your television flashes light is simply because there is a problem with the television, it is receiving power but not supplying it to the main board of the television.
This could be as a result of a burnt capacitor on the power panel of the television.
Run a check on the televisions power panel to detect any burnt capacitor, you can replace the capacitor or the entire power panel, which ever pleases you and is convenient for you to replace.
After replacing the power panel or the capacitor, then you will be able to enjoy the services of the television.
