I wanted to add that while you disconnect power adapters and phone cable you also have to remove batteries from handset.
Ensure that you have removed handset batteries and disconnected AC adapter(s), then restart the system with handphones near to the base, or sitting in their cradle.
As said, if that does not work, then there is a problem, in that case call Uniden at the service number listed on documentation.

Switch off both units leave for 30 seconds switch on the handset then the base.
If that does not work do the same again but this time power up the base first
They should auto sync
Are you placing the second phone into the main base to register it ?
Can you be a bit more specific as to model etc
Look at base plate of main unit for details
