or the microphone arm connection to the headband which is not a tight fit.Whenever the reader moves their head any movement of the microphone creates a click noise. Any ideas as to a solution would be welcome

You could use something to prevent movement such a s sticky, electrical or masking tape, or wrap a rubber band around the place the two meet. Or you could go to an extreme and glue it in place. Backing off from that, perhaps a dab of hut melt glue, then hold it to one part and move the other to break it free, so that there is movement but no play.
A piece of plastic, foam pencil eraser, or modified ballpoint pen top might assist.
A less exterme method still would be to try Blutac, which i have seem put to many strange uses. It is non damaging and removable and you might even find a variant on a colour that does not clash.
I think Blutak is workable, if not I hope my suggestions help you find something out of local materials that works.
