Our 4 year old Asko D3121 dishwasher has stopped heating the water and drying off the dishes..is the problem as simple as replacing the heater element ??? If so ,how difficult is it ?
Dishwashers - Asko - 24 in. D3121XL Free-standing Dishwasher
I would check the voltages around the heater before replacing it. Sometimes the thermal overload relay opens out and shuts off the power. Could be a more simpler to replace than the whole heater.
I am not sure why you say your dishwasher does not have a heating element. Have you connected to the hot water directly?. Then why do you say it has stopped heating water.
The heater part for your model is definitely there. See this site. Not sure why you rated my solution with 2 fingers when I am still trying to help you understand what the problem is. If you need my assistance please remove the rating and post a comment to confirm you do not have a heater in your unit or not. The heater is in the base of the dishwasher where the lower sprayer arm is located. There is also a thermistor (much cheaper to replace) which measures the water temperature. The heater will not work if the thermistor is faulty. So also better to check thermistor first.
Both these items require a reasonable experience with electrical items and based on what you mention, it might be better to call the technician. The heater is in the base of the dishwasher where the lower sprayer arm is located. Relay K1 fails on the control board. It's an Omron G2R-1A-E, 24v DC coil. Mine got so hot it melted the solder away from the printed circuit board connections to the relay. Buy from Ebay for 5 bucks and replace the relay. Easy to do without removing the circuit board. You need to know how to solder however.
Hi, If the heater has no power getting to it during the wash cycle, check the thermistor located on the door, should be around (17kOhm). I had exactly the same fault and it ended up being a dry joint on the control board where the heater element wiring plugs in. Hope this helps someone.
