Our hot tub uses a Waterway Pump. We emptied the water and refilled it with clean water. The pump now just hums... and doesn't pump. Did we do something wrong? Is there a solution. It is 220V. The Balboa control panel lights up and the temperature setting appears in the window. At that time, all that is heard is a humming sound. Thank you for your support
I have the same problem with one of my waterway pumps every time I drain my spa. It's an airlock that is fixed as follows. Remove any one of the three drain plugs in the outside plate of the wet end (preferably the lowest). Let the air out and replace the plug when water runs through. Now the pump will work. WARNING: if you run the pump dry with the airlock you can damage the shaft seal and the pump will leak water.
Was the pump working prior to the cleaning or had it been sitting dormant? The motor relies on a starting circuit within it to operate. One of the components can be bad or the pump can be siezed up.
Turn off the power and remove the back cover from the motor. Try to turn the shaft by hand. Is it free to turn? If so, the problem is inside the motor. If not, look for the obstrction.
A local electric motor repair shop can help you if you find damage in the motor and/or pump.
Sound like u just might have an air lock which means after you filled your spa back up your pumps got some air in the lines that is one of the most common probles after refilling the spa. There two ways to can try to fix this . 1 being try to keep pressing your number1 pump on and off do it a little slower than faster if u do not have a computerised topside try doing the same with your air buttons. If that doesint work go to plan 2 what u have to do is open the door or doors on your tub locate pump 1 which is your main pump. You will then see two pipes coming off your pump that are both thread on fitting like a nut. what you want to do is un thead one of those pipes a little till you see a little water leaking out and u might also hear a little hissing sound that is the air being released be sure to re titten the union(theaded pipe that attaches to the pump) if u have done the proccess right a burst of water should come out of your jets . The process is kinda like burpping a child all your doing is letting air out of the pumps And Lines on some hot tubs there ever bleader screw attached to' the side of the pumps or on top of your filter canister .i repair tubs on a regurlar basisSound like u just might have an air lock which means after you filled your spa back up your pumps got some air in the lines that is one of the most common probles after refilling the spa.
