Our turntable is not producing any sound even though we have changed the speakers
There is power to both the turntable and stereo receiver (model Akai AA-R1). We also cannot hear any static when it switched to radio AM and FM could this an problem with the receiver? All lights are going in the receiver.

Be sure the audio-out leads are connected properly to the receiver. They usually will work ok connected to the aux. plugs. Be sure the selector on the front of receiver is set to aux as well. Check the cartridge output wires to insure they are connected to the cartridge ok. If you have the receiver powered up and have the proper settings on the front of the receiver, you should get a little static sound when plugging the audio output leads into their respective input jacks on the receiver.
