Overload indicator comes on without any appliance attached
I have a duralite 12v 1000w inverter and as soon as it is attached to the battery the overload light comes on with no appliance attached. I have a110amp leisure battery (brand new).

The battery may be new- but how much charge does it have? The inverter has a high and low battery warning.
If the inverter has no load upon it, it may see the battery potential as high. so if you put a load on it such as an incandescant lamp, in parallel to the inverter, and as an inverter load it should circumvent the warning. Then it is a matter of fine tuning the setup.
