Are you sure the problem is with the thermocouple? is the pilot sharp and blue? it is unconnon for the magnet in a gas valve to go bad but it does happen. place the thermocouple in the valve and with it in front of you heat it with a match or lighter for 30 sec. now try and light the pilot quickly. if it lights the the problem would be the pilot, if not then the valve. is this a milivolt system or hydrolic t stat.
i have looked over the manual on this unit. when you say the pilot will not stay lit will it light and after use it goes out? this is a sealed combustion unit. all air comes from outside for the fire to burn and the same for the combustion gas all through the same vent place. is there any sooting around the vent cap. a blockage of the combustion or fresh air will cause the pilot and flame to smother go out and the you can relight after a short time.i have looked over the manual on this unit. when you say the pilot will not stay lit will it light and after use it goes out? this is a sealed combustion unit. all air comes from outside for the fire to burn and the same for the combustion gas all through the same vent place. is there any sooting around the vent cap. a blockage of the combustion or fresh air will cause the pilot and flame to smother go out and the you can relight after a short time.
