Pilot is lighting, but unit won't light
Pilot seems to light, i hold the Pilot knob in for 30 seconds per instructions but the unit doesn't ignite, could it be my regulator not letting enough gas in OR is there something in the top unit that could be the culprit.

Could also be a faulty control valve
If the pilot light stays light after you relaease the knob, but your burner will not light then it most likely is the tip switch. Install a jumper wire across the tip switch connections and your burner should light, do not operate with jumper wire as this is bypassing the saftey feature.
