Yes. unfortunately this is a common problem. Sometimes the motor can be changed, but in most cases, the DVD drive needs to be swapped out. It happens all the time, I fix many PS3 units with this problem, laptops too, doesn't matter if it is a CD, DVD, CD-RW, DVD-RW, etc., it just happens. Needs service, or maybe if it isn't worth fixing, buy a new one. I have never heard of Venturer so maybe try one of the more popular brand DVD players. Also, you should definitely see if you are still under the manufacturer's warranty. If so, they will do it.
