The batteries may not be dead. When pulling a hill especialy for long periods, you may draw too much current and the circuit breaker will open. If you wait a few minutes you can reset it and resume. If the batteries are not fully charged or in good condition, the unit will shut down it total system voltage drops below 17 volts.
