Power keeps going off... I have tried taking the battery out, moving the cables....I smelled a little burnt, so thinking some wire or componet has been burnt internally....I think I need to send it to someone to fix?

The short answer is, yes you do need to send it off to a repair centre. Any kind of burning smell in an electrical appliance (regardless of the power source) can be very serious, even dangerous. The fault is most likely to be in the unit's power supply circuit (it means a high DC output has been applied to a circuit that is meant to operate at a lower voltage; hence the burning smell) several components may have contributed to this. The beauty of workshop quotes is that you can choose to accept them and go ahead, or if the cost is likely to be more than the retail price of a brand new unit, decline, and buy a new player - but only as a last resort - get the quote first. A qualified technician will be able to assist you further in this matter. Up to you.
I do not recommend that you attempt to operate or plug the unit into a wall socket while it is in fault condition. I don't believe replacing the battery (if available) would make much difference.
