Precor Elliptical EFX 5.23. Getting grinding noise on both forward and backward strides. It appears the aluminum eddy current disk is rubbing intermittently on the electromagnet. All the bolts seem tight so I am not sure why this is intermittently rubbing

There may be a wave washer on the crankshaft that broke - when it breaks, there is too much left to right play in the shaft, so the disk will intermittently rub. Taking it all apart and replacing the washer is tricky - hire a pro.
