Previously when the toilet was flushed the motor would come on continuously to clear the pan, now it comes on and goes off 3 times for each flush. The pan empties alright I was just wondering if there was something wrong to make it come on intermittently instead of continuously

Sounds like the full censor is faulty, give it a good clean out may help, it dont take very much to clog up this censor

the censor is in the motor, the best thing to try out first is a good loo cleaner one with lime scale remover in it is best,,,this should dissolve any lime scale if this is whats blocking the censor,,
if you can leave the cleaner in to do its work over a day,,,this may be very hard!!!??? but the longer its in the better,,if you cant leave it working for very long do the cleaning over a fuw night time,s when hope fully every ones asleep, so it has time for it to work well

lime scale is a real pain some times but it can leave caves looking very nice
