Problems with monitor startup XA7-17i
Hi, I have a problem with my monitor. I would appreciate if you could help me with this or just provide me with information which chip device should I exchange. The problem is following :
After I connect the monitor, whether via DVI or VGA the screen stays blank, after 40 minutes it starts to flash and finaly after 50 minutes it works fine. When I turn my PC Off the monitor switches to standby, but when I turn it on the next day On, then I have to wait the same 50 minutes until the monitor starts again. Another thing is that when I unplug the power cable of the monitor, that means when I cut it completely off the power and without connecting it to my PC plug it in, the small led-diod that is positioned on the power button starts to flash and then it goes off and stays so until 50 minutes.
Please, I would realy appreciate any help with this problem.

Hi,
It's not a problem with your graphics card, or the cable, but a problem with the monitor. It sounds like there is a blown capacitator on the inverter board within the screen.
The inverter board is the circuit board that the backlight is mounted on.
If you were to open up the monitor and look at the inverter board, you might see that one or more of the capacitators are 'bulging' on top, or burst/leaking, and you could snip these off and solder in replacements. You would need to obtain schematics for the circuit board to be sure of purchasing the correct one(s).
If you aren't too comfortable with tackling this sort of thing, I would have to say you're best bet would be to try another monitor. :(
I suggest using another monitor and having a go at repairing the broken monitor yourself.. it'll be really satisfying if/when you succeed..
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but at least you know what the problem is now..
