Pump hums then breaker flips
My sta rite pump is not seized because when I unfasten the clamp that connects the wet and dry side and then turn on the pump power, the motor works fine. Then when I re-connect the clamp and fasten it down, the motor just hums and the breaker flips. Any thoughts on why this happens?

Something is binding in the pump try the impeller to see if it runs true when you have it apart. It may be cross threaded on the shaft. This is a common problem if you have a air leak in your system.
