You must do first in order to check if you pump is ok, remove the fuel out hose of the pump and start you car and if there's no fuel mean either the hose or the pump have problem but it there's a fuel flowing then your problem are in the fuel distributor (like if your car has carburetor or Electronic fuel injection EFI) your car wont work if this parts were malfunction. Or you have to do is Try to cover the air intake by your palm and start the engine, the action wont be pumping of the intake like cover in second and open the intake them your palm must be wet if not the pump or the hose have problem.
