Rainbow SE I can hear the motor slowing down and then it revs back up again and slows down again until it stops completely, there is also a burning rubber smell and a small bit of smoke. Please help!

Sounds like the bearing need to be replaced . If y keep using the unit it will wear down your motor brushes. If you find a good authorized rainbow service center. It should not cost you to much. You should not need to replace the motor or Rainbow.
