Raymarine st8002 wired to furuno
Trying to hook up raymarine st8002 to furuno 1732. need to know if raymarine is compatable to the RS-232 that the furuno puts out of data 3 port. when connected them together the Smartpilot computer went out...was showing "no data" on display ..When i get pilot back i would hate to hook them back together and mess up again.

Seatronix1 is correct use NMEA for the connection. Set your waypoint in the furuno, hit auto on the 8002 then track track. The 8002 will ack with next waypoint at xxxx then hit track again.
The st8002 is not compatble with rs232 data. You need to supply it with nmea 0183 data. You will need to wire it to the "NMEA port IN" on the pilot to NMEA out on your Furuno and turn on the mnea sentances "out" on your Furuno. You will need to turn on at least the following sentances GGA GLL RMB RMC.Hope that helps.
