REcovery discs can do the task by restoring it to the factory setting. you can insert it directly to the DVD/CD ROM and then boot the pc to the ROM. and the follow the onscreen instruction.
however; if you have recovery disk then you have to provide windows installation disk and install it to the your hard drive.

You have to insert the recovery disk and in your CD rom and restart or boot your pc to the cd rom so that the pc will boot from the recovery disk not in hard drive.
You have to reboot the pc from the recovery disk so that you have to option:
1. You have to retain the old file only the system files will be replace (something like that). 2. you need to partition and format the hard drive( something like that)
in this you will be send to first setting of your windows.
