Recently, when I noticed that after taking my off my luminox wristwatch at bedtime, the next morning the second moved smoothing for 4-5 seconds, stops thn repeats this instead of its usual "ticking" action. After putting it on my wrist it goes back to normal. When I first noticed this, I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. Then I noticed it did it again the next night

That is an EOL(end of life) function and is your watchs way of telling you that the cell has become low and needs replacing. Good luck :)
